St. Thomas United Church of Christ
(formerly Wenrich’s Lutheran and German Reformed)
St. Thomas United Church of Christ (originally Wenrich’s Lutheran and German Reformed Church) had its beginnings in the 1730s in the Paxton area of Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. The original settlers were Scotch-Irish. When they moved westward the Linglestown area became populated by Germans from the Rheinland-Pfalz-Palatinate. In 1791 the German Reformed congregation of Wenrich’s Church was officially organized and that heralded the beginning of documentation in church records. Some of the ledgers of this historic church are available.
Baptisms are the most abundant references in our church records, however there are also confirmations (catechism), deaths, members lists and a few marriages. These are not yet online. Contact us and we will do a search for you, or you are welcome to visit and study our ledgers.
The transcriptions from the tombstones in our cemetery are available online now; the remainder of the following information is in the process of being transferred to an online source.
