heating the sanctuary
In the forepart of the history it says they had no fire in the old log church, now at the centennial this story was told, and finally they did get a stove, but there was a great deal of objecting by some of the older men and women saying their faith ought to keep them warm.  So the first Sunday they had the stove they did not have all things in shape for fire, so did not have any and it was quite cold.  All through the sermon there was an old woman continually making a fuss as if she was warm, and when church left out she said she knew that it would be hot and uncomfortable with fire.  When she was told there was no fire she was shocked.
